ok i know theres a great old grand book by kenneth iverson md about getting into a residency...but i wanted to hear from you the medical students..what really goes into deciding where you "match" aside from USMLES...i know people say you can buff up your chances by doing a rotation in the speciality you may want to do at the teaching hospital you want to do your residency at...can anyone shed some more light?

Welcome to SDN.

The following info is about ophthalmology, but it will apply to most other residency programs in regards to what makes you competitive.
