I got an exceptionally harsh sounding rejection from NJDS, and I'm curious as to whether any schools have different versions of rejection letters for different applicants. Could people share the text of their rejection letters? I'll start:

"Thank you for applying to the UMDNJ-New Jersey Dental School. The pre-doctoral Admissions Committee reviewed your application thoroughly for admission to the class of 2013.

The Admissions Committee considers many factors in reaching its decision for entering students. Final determination is usually based on the applicant's prior academic performance primarily in the sciences and supporting evidence of professional aptitude.

I regret to inform you that your application for admission was not approved by the Admissions Committee of the New Jersey Dental School

I sincerely wish you every success in your future endeavors."

Don't have it on me at the moment but the one I got from UPenn was beautiful. It basically said that they were really sorry, this doesn't reflect on you as an applicant, please prove us wrong by being extremely successful, we know you can do it, etc etc. Best rejection letter I've ever gotten for anything. 👍

I received the same rejection letter. I wasn't good enough for them, but I was good enough for UCSF.
Please, don't take their rejection letter seriously.

UNLV actually sent me the WRONG rejection letter... they sent me one that went something like "Thank you for coming and participating at our interview, but we regret to inform you that you have not been selected for the class of 2013." Yeah, I didn't interview, I called about it, and they said that they just use the same filler ones, and she must have copied and pasted the wrong letter. Sheesh, thanks.

One I got from USC was even better. It went something along the lines of, "After reviewing your application, the admissions committee has decided to place your application on hold because of striking deficiencies on your application. We appreciate your interest in USC School of Dentistry, and reccommend that you strive to improve your application by taking additional science courses to improve your GPA, and possibly retaking the DAT." Ok, so my GPA wasn't too hot, but I got a 22AA and a 30RC, called them, turns out they didn't mean to send it to me. Ha.

My favorite though was the University of Michigan. I got an email from them with the subject "University of Michigan" and a single line saying "Please see attached Document." I was like, sweet! Another interview invite! Yeah, but then I open it and it's a stupid filler letter that didn't even bother to put my name in:

"Dear Applicant:

Your application to the University of Michigan School of Dentistry has been carefully reviewed and regretfully, we are not able to offer you admission. Making acceptance decisions is extremely difficult because of the high volume and individuality of applications we receive. As we strive to select candidates to our incoming class, we must, unfortunately, disappoint many applicants with notification that we cannot offer them a seat in the entering Class of 2009.

We appreciate your interest in the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and hope that you will find satisfying enrollment options elsewhere.

Sincerely yours"

They couldn't have spent 42 cents of the secondary check that I sent them to mail me an actual piece of paper? Bleh...

Oh well, sorry for all the complaining. I got in to dental school, I guess that's what counts!
