I've been pretty morbidly sick for the last few days but am just starting to feel better this morning. I have this awful phlegmy cough though that follows me everywhere and draws attention in class like showing up to an interview naked. I can't call schools anymore to check up on my status cuz I cough all into the mouthpiece and they hang up immediately yelling about how I'm going to make them sick. Halls is just not cutting it anymore. Any tips you guys have? Things passed down from your parents? Voodoo? Viagra? i'm willing to try anything. thanks

p.s. i'm not smoking anything so don't go hootin and hollerin about that.

Umm, I don't think halls can help a phlegm cough. I had one of those that lasted a month, until I finally got some antibiotics. In the meantime, I recommend you go looking for an expectorant.

you should probably drink hot soup or something... it usually eases the cough at least temporarily.

Take Mucinex. it's so awesome, it loosens everything up and lets you get it all out quick. It used to be prescription I think, but is now freely available OTC.

Delsym is the best cough medicine ever.

And more being generally presentable while sick, I'm a big fan of copious amounts of Dayquil.

Mucinex (guaifed) does kick ass, in case you needed someone else to give you a head's up. Mucinex and a 30 minute long hot shower (get that steam, bee-atch!) about an hour after you take mucinex will definitely get that snot/phlegm moving.

Mucinex is awesome indeed but for it to work properly you really need to make sure you're well-hydrated so keep pounding those fluids!

I feel your pain, Mota, I just got over a case of pneumonia. Hang in there!

Try tea with honey or lemon or warm orange or apple juice diluted with water.
All three will make you feel better.

mota i am sorry you are feeling bad!

the best tip i have is to go out an get a HUGE BOTTLE OF LISTERINE. i swear this is almost like a magic cure for all throat colds, especially in the beginning when you first start to feel it come on.

gargle listerine as often as you can, and you have to tilt your head back and do it properly, not like the dumb tv commercials where you are checking yourself out in the mirror making funny faces counting the seconds. the antiseptic works on the back of your throat where you feel the worst and it really helps. i've told this to several friends and it has worked, i'm tellin ya.

other than that, just get lots of sleep ;)

Put some whiskey in that tea. Of course you knew that would be my suggestion.
