I had a really great preceptor this year (I'm an M1) who I worked with every few weeks. I was thinking of displaying my gratitude for all her voluntary time with a small gift. Would this be appropriate, and if so, any ideas on what to give?

Thanks!

I think this would be fine. At my school, it is common.

I personally think a handwritten thank you card/note is probably the best gesture you could give.

i would consider some sort of fancy pen and a card ....don't go overboard though

Gifts aren't really expected or appropriate. It's likely that your preceptor would refuse it, and it might be awkward. If you want to do something bring in some donuts for the office staff and write her a thank you note.

I wrote a thank you note and baked a chocolate cake for the doc and the office staff. Baked goods and cards are common but I wouldn't do much more than that.

Much thanks for the input guys. I was thinking about it, and yeah, thank you card and maybe something edible seems most appropriate.

Thank you card and food for the docs and staff.
