Currently a sophomore sociology/predental major. I started taking my pre-reqs starting this year, taking 1 science course at a time right now until I start organo next summer, taking chem 1 and 2 over the summer at my university. Anyways, my GPA right now is around a 3.1, I'm pretty confident I can get it to about a 3.3-3.4, hopefully higher haha. I've got already 100 hrs of shadowing my local dentist, I'm a certified dental assistant, not working at the moment due to school, but will over the summer (should have a year and a half or so of work experience), currently got a position at DeBakey Hospital in the medical center in Houston (I got to UH), as a dental lab research volunteer/assistant, should have about 100+ when I'm applying. What do you guys think, this is of course I get average to above average on my DAT. Just want some feedback, I know I've got time, but just wondering, thanks guys.

Get your GPA up to about 3.4 to 3.5. Pay attention in Organic. Study your butt off for the DAT. Also, I would suggest making an appointment with Dr. Pierpont, the associate dean for admissions, at the Ut dental school in Houston just to make sure you are on the right track. You will also get your face known, so they know that your are interested.
