What information should you make available to a professor who is writing you an LOR? I would assume a CV and personal statement for sure. But should you also provide them with a copy of your transcript, if they know nothing about your grades other than the good one you earned in their class?

Depends on who you ask. One of my recommenders requested an unofficial transcript. But if they don't ask for one, it's up to you if you want to give them one.

I offered it to them for the sake of openness.
Also I felt I had taken a lot of good difficult upper division courses in the department, that they would be familiar with, so they would see that as well.

I made them manilla folders w/

recent transcript (copy of an official one)
CV
letter of intent (a semi-ripoff of my PS)
list of achievements & what they meant to me
envelope for the letter
outer envelope to give the letter to the committee in

i gave all of my recommenders a copy of my brief autobiography (which we were required to write for our pre-med committee) and the most recent draft of my personal statement. they were all very happy to have these things, and none asked for a transcript.
