I am about to formally give my 2 weeks' notice, and I wasn't sure how to do it. I work for WAG, and the district office is 2 hours away so I know I am sending the DM an email, but I was wondering if that was rude to do so without a phone call. Should I also call him and then send my resignation email? Thanks for the help!

why you quitting?

I'd write a letter and send it in certified express mail.

Just because you have given them a 2 week notice doesn't always mean they will allow you to work for another 2 weeks. They may just dismiss you immediately. I have seen it done. Just keep that in mind.

I got another job offer, which is tons better. I'm getting paid more, better benefits, and currently I am in a 24 h store that is crazy busy, and we don't get enough tech help. On top of that, this store has so much more drama than the other local WAGs, and I needed to get out. Too much stress! This is definitely a store with high pharmacist turnover. Plus, some of my techs are trying to find new jobs or already have- it's that bad. Even my RXM is trying to get out.

Ok thanks for the heads up! I doubt they would just because we are a small town, and we already had a pharmacist at another store quit a few weeks ago. Plus, our 2 newest pharmacists can't really handle a busy store w/600+ scripts and flu shots. But, I guess if they do let me go, I'll just get a vacation. 🙂

So does the written notice have to be via certified mail? I thought email would be acceptable nowadays.

Call and provide initial notification of notice, follow up with email, and send signed hardcopy of email to business office.

First, congrats on your new job! Second, when I put in my two weeks notice, I e-mailed my boss first asking him to call me when he's free since I know he has a much busier schedule than me, so I didn't want to call at a bad time. Since he didn't call me back by the next evening, I e-mailed him my letter of resignation, which he then came to my store in less than an hour from me sending the e-mail.

I would call first, and then send an email. If you are good, or needed because you work in a 24 hour store, they will try to counter you. If not, they will wish you best of luck. An email or letter is nice because he has HR documentation.

Best of luck!
