Glycolysis Question

PEP (phosphoenol pyruvate) is the greatest energy rich intermediate for sure.... and 3 others I guess since you need to get 4ATP for each glu molecule considering spending 2 ATP during the process ........ so in total 2 ATP per glu in glycolysis.
Just look at 10 step process of glycolysis and you'll see what intermediates are .

Glucose----> Glucose-6-P ( which enters glycolysis) ----> Fructose-6-P ----> Fructose-1,6-bisphosphate -----> DHAP + Glyceraldehyde-3-P ( G-3-P) ----> 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate ( 1,3- BPG) ----> 3-phosphoglycerate ----> 2- phosphoglycerate ---> Phosphoenol pyruvate (PEP) ----> Pyruvate



1,3-bisphosphoglycerate ( 1,3- BPG) and Phosphoenol pyruvate (PEP) are used to generate ATP that is why it is energy rich intermediates.

Please note, I did not include the reverse reaction in above, only indicates the forward reaction. I hope this will help you. Something that I know and can share with you.

Not at all.🙂eek🙂 At the DAT, they did not ask such in detail. What I explained in this way because for purely supporting to information where is the intermediates are. That's all. Sorry everyone. The answers were the bolded one. 😛
