Man, even seeing a new post in this thread makes my heart flutter. 😛 Gmail, what are you doing to me??
 
LOVE this thread. Makes me feel much better about my compulsive tendencies. I will say that the application process has inspired me to finally unsubscribe from all those junk emails I get... too much disappointment.
 
i hate this thread. i look up at my safari box and see Inbox (1) and get excited! alas, it is just the title for this darn thread and not an interview invite.

Right there with you. I'm not quite to the point where I need to archive and file everything (I have about 140 messages in my inbox, and more archived), but I get really annoyed when I leave an e-mail unread.
 
has anybody else keep pressing reload convinced that gmail is not uploading automatically the way it should.

Yeah, definitely not. Good thing it's a touch screen though, because if the "refresh" function were an actual button, I think mine would've been worn down/broken off by now 🙄

Enable push (for gmail... Just google it. You can now use google sync for push on iPhone.)

Or -- get the app gpush. Now ... No more refreshing. 🙂

this post pretty much sums up the last 2 months of my life. I always seem to actually get interviews when I'm not expecting it.
 
completely agree with that statement. I had a month long lull at work where i got NOTHING...but compulsively checked my email.

then i leave for a huge 2 week interview run....and get more interviews then when i dont have time to check or celebrate....

but ill take it!😀

i think part of the reason i got an iphone this year was so that i wouldn't compulsively check my email all the time

Sorry, how does that make you check your mail less? Having an iphone allows me to check my mail even more... wherever, whenever. 😀

haha well i got the gpush app meaning that there's no point in checking, it'll just ring when i have a new email. this way i don't run to a computer every 15 minutes of the day
 
haha, it doesn't get any better when you will be applying for residencies. Up until a couple of weeks ago, I used to get excited when I saw the Inbox (1) hoping it would be an interview, only to be disappointed by some random email. But now I have set up a filter where anything with the words "myeras" or "interview invitation" in the email gets sent straight to my phone as a text, so I know immediately when I receive an invite. Takes the anxiety out a little bit.

Those are unread out of about 2670 total in the inbox. I really need to clean it out but every time I think about it I weep.

Am I the only person on this forum that stopped compulsively checking my email and reading SDN once school picked back up again? lol.. I feel like I am being too mellow and that, in turn, is freaking me out.

i actually freaked out a little bit because i saw Gmail - Inbox (1) on my task bar, but it was actually just the current forum. FML.
 
This thread is the story of my life.
Except, I'm in my prime years (a.k.a. last year of HS) in this whole I-wanna-be-a-doctor deal. So only 12 more years of Gmail-OCD-ness....? But I feel like by then, it'll just be a habit....

sigh i got a post interview hold, but also an interview today.
 
I've seen someone with something like 11000 unread messages in his inbox.
