Not the slippery slope to insanity that many of us experienced waiting for interviews, not that of scheduling interviews, getting to interviews, performing like a dancing bear at interviews, writing thank you notes after interviews (my most dreaded task!), mentally processing the relative strengths of programs following interviews...

No, what I mean is the insanity that comes from being happy with all my programs, and just wanting someone (very wise) to decide for me: not an algorithm, not a biased mentor, nor spouse, rather an omniscient being!

Good luck folks~~!

POST PAD, POST PAD....

Go to your outstanding home school dre.

Dre,
You were crazy way before any of this started, nobody dances like a bear better than you, and if you are lucky you will end up at your outstanding home program. Just trying to calm you down a little 😀 Talk to you later.

You know, I had the exact same feelings last year. After interviewing at 9 places, I loved 6 of them was indifferent about 2 of them and only disliked 1. How the hell was I supposed to put the top 6 in an order? I tentatively listed out some pros/cons of each of the programs and cities but quickly realized that was going to be a pointless exercise. Eventually I just picked out maybe 3 or 4 of the absolute most important points and compared the top 6 only in those areas which helped narrow it down a bit more. Then I just went with my gut feeling on the top few. FWIW my most important considerations were (in no particular order): quality of clinical training, atmosphere of the program, and location (city size, climate, expense, outdoor activities...). After I sat down and finally came to a rank list, I realized that I'd be perfectly happy at any of the top 6 places and my stress level went way down. I tweaked it a few times here or there, but the major step was deciding what was most important to me and going from there.

Give us you top 7 and we'll rank 'em for you! Come on! It will be fun.

Ok, there is something wrong when you presumably know all but one poster on a anonymous forum!. Thank Gods I haven't discussed my love of small animals and other foibles!

Ear and The Doctor got my back and I would kill to match with them- if only we could all agree on a program!!!

And Hawkeye, I assume I know you- it wouldn't be our shared love of M*A*S*H though that would have sparked your sexy screen name would it?

Yes, I do have an awesome home program. Too bad ALL of us couples match- It's just some of yous actually use the NRMP!!

No, it would have more to do with the mascot of my school

Hawk,
So now it's YOUR school? 🙂

What about the other suckers who pay 20-40K?

I'm right there with you Dre. Only halfway through my list and I feel very positive about nearly all of them. Even the programs I am not thrilled about are good choices for me for a variety of reasons. I'm at the point where I might start canceling interviews just to make the decisions easier. It's a fortunate issue to be complaining about. 😎 Many sleepless nights of second guessing myself in the future.

similar problem. i like a couple of different cities for various reasons. plunk a great program into the equation and it makes it that much harder. comparing New Haven with NYC and "middle of nowhere, north carolina" is comparing apples and oranges. love them all, for different reasons.

i'll figure it out. rank list via drunken dartboard selection.

Andy,
I am a total MASH addict. I used to watch it everyday for study breaks. 20 minutes each episode. Hawkeye has always been my hero until I realized he was one of my classmates! 🙂
