I am a CA resident who goes to school in WA/has a home/live there. I was wondering with my stats if it would be worth becoming a WA state resident. because it seems like i have a better chance of getting into UW as a resident with my scores than getting into a UC or cali school?
So I am a 3.3 sgpa 34 cgpa. 30 mcat.
ECs are good.
publication, couple hundred clinical hours, couple hundred volunteer hours, varsity athletics, shadowing, student gov, other leadership, etc...
suggestions?

It might be worth it. But make sure you consider that CA has multiple medical schools and WA only has 1. Not all the UC schools are equally competitive, the stats for the schools ranges. Good luck in either state.

would i also get a little bit of preference for OHSU?

Not a bit. Keep in mind also that UW places a HUGE amount of weight on interest/dedication to rural family care, particularly in WA. How long have you lived here? If it was only through undergrad they may not weigh your commitment to the state as heavily as a lifelong resident. Just my opinion. Also your stats may be a tad low...UWSOM has an avg GPA of ~3.7 I believe, however they do weight GPAs, so if you've got a strong upward trend it'll work in your favor.

Look on the school's website, it's all spelled out. Moving to Washington for undergrad years doesn't make you a resident if you're a full time student..
