going into EM, when to do the electives?

i'm in 3rd year now, i'll be applying to EM next year.. when should i do EM electives at the hospitals that i want to apply to? aug? sept? oct? nov?

also, what other electives should i do aside from EM? i'm going to do Med subI (for experience), peds,

what else should i do to boost my chances for EM?
