Going to a school without an official pre-med program?

Lets say a college I want to go to for my undergrad does not have an official pre-med program. If I took pre-med classes anyway (chem,organic chem, bio, physics) would it be counted the same way as just being a part of an official pre-med program? Also, if it changes anything, my undergrad is not going to be science related.

It doesn't matter, as long as you satisfy the pre-reqs of the schools you plan to apply to.

I would say that pre-med is 50% a gimmick. The best part is the advising, but you can get that for free here.

Pre-med programs tend to be borderline worthless. My only concern would be why they don't have one (i.e. is it because life sciences/pre-professional school aspirations are not a priority at the college, is it in an area not conducive to pre-med students, etc).
