Possible food poisoning... lol. Had sushi earlier today at a place I've never been to, now I can't stop throwing up. Interview at my top school tomorrow afternoon. It seeeeeeems like food poisoning... (had it before after eating sushi) and 1/12 was the earliest date for me when I was invited in Nov, so I really don't want to postpone.

Anyone have experience with this? Tell me I can tough it out.

I have a feeling I'll be feeling better tomorrow, but man, I never even imagined I'd get sick the day before an interview

Had a nasty respiratory infection the day I interviewed at my top school. Between the 3-4 hours of driving and the long day, I was completely dead when I got home. I took every non drowsy medicine I could find along with plenty of tissues. I imagined I looked like death but considering I got accepted it must not have been so bad. But for food poisoning...? lol that's kind of hard to hide. Is there another date in the next week or two you could switch to ?

Unfortunately, no. The next available interview date is next early next month. I'm gonna hope it's one of those 24-hour bugs and it subsides by tomorrow afternoon. Luckily I have the PM interview slot.

Worst case scenario- go to a walk in and get a prescription for zofran for nausea. And take some imodium just in case as well.

You can tough it out. I know food poisoning sucks and i'll be praying for you to get well before your big day-- but you can do it! Sometimes life throws us curve balls-- i've had a situation last year when I had an interview at one of my top picks-- I had learned of some devastating news an hour and a half earlier and I had to fake a smile and carry on-- you got this!

I lost my voice due to a flu two days prior to an interview. Got some rest, flew in for the interview, nailed it, and got accepted (my very first acceptance). Many interviewers are physicians. It's okay to be a little sick but still present. To me, that shows perseverance.

This!!!! You have to go to your interview. Doctors generally don't call in sick and we work sick all the time - unless you are in the hospital. You need to be there.

So sorry to hear this! You should be better by tomorrow.

Pepto-bismal and try some cranberry juice, once you can keep things down.

I got sick the day I arrived in the city I interviewed for my post-doc position. I was queasy all the next day of the interview. I eventually decided to go to that lab, but it was a terrible experience for six months, until the lab moved to a different city.

I should have heeded the warning.

As long as you've stopped vomiting (and are confident that you are done vomiting and won't do so in your interviewer's face) then I think you can tough it out. It's just the vomiting part that I'm concerned about.
