Hi guys well I am sort of faced with a dilema ...

I was wondering wat u guys would say about me transfering out of Purdue University West Lafayette and then going to Sain XAvier University to complete my second year of pre pharmacy ...

I really like it here at Purdue but its way to expensive especially for just pre pharm courses ... I was hoping someone could give me there opinion on wether my chances of getting into say like UIC would be harder and I would be less likely to get in ... Right now I hope on getting a 3.8 GPA for my first year at Purdue and I am in 2 clubs sort of related to pharmacy...

I just dont want to ruin my chances of getting into pharmacy school ... -Derek

I can't imagine that going to a different school would hurt you in any way. Sounds like you are set with grades and clubs. Maybe add in some more pharm experience.

The fact that you don't have a bachelors will hurt you more than if you transferred schools at UIC. You'll have to submit both transcripts to UIC.

has anyone had any experience or heard of somone doing this -derek

anyone else wanna chime in on the subject ... any opinions will help ... thanks guys

I know lots of people that split their pre-reqs between the university and community college and I don't think it hurt them at all. And even if it did matter, that's one tiny thing in a sea of things they consider so dont sweat it.

It depends on what school on whether community college credits will hurt or not. At UIC, without a bachelors, it will hurt. They are biased against community colleges.

the fact is that I really dont think I will be able to continue with my pre reqs at purdue its a little over 30k a year hear ... i plan on going to St. Xavier university in chicago next year or some other university that is cheaper than hear .. i am pretty sure all my credits should transfer and I will finish up my prereqs next year.. i think ill only need to take about 30 credits to finish up the mandatory stuff and take a supplemental class or two

i just really hope that me going to two different universitites will make a difference .. i am pretty sure i can maintain a good gpa and i will definitely get some shadowing in along with clubs .. with all this do u guys think i should have a pretty good chance to get into uic (i am instate also if that even makes a difference)

The average UIC COP student has a GPA in the mid 3s and a PCAT of 90. 70% of them have bachelors. The vast majority either went to UIC or UIUC for undergrad. Illinois residents are given priority.

I was also wondering about this. I have been transferring often; not because of grades but because I have yet to find the "right" school for me. My grades have been pretty consistent at both my schools, 3.66 GPA at Queens College and a 3.38 GPA at the University at Buffalo.

I am considering of transferring to Binghamton University but have put my acceptance on hold due to a fear of the admissions committee see it as a sign of weakness. My advisor, says the only thing it affects is the amount of time it would take to get my Bachelors(adding about an extra semester due to credits/ requirement difference between all 3 universities).

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. (Sorry for stealing some of the posters thunder here 😳, I don't like to make random new posts). Good luck and have fun guys. =)
