Hi, I was searching around and did not really find lots of info on what people think of Gold Standards CBTs.

I know their curve is weird, but still I'm getting like 27-28 on those tests.

If you took them, how do they compare ( if you can please share your scores) to AAMC practice tests or to your actual MCAT?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

They're really good. Good investment. They're a little harder than the AAMC according to some people on this board. Hope that helps 🙂

I took all 10 GS CBT's, here's my take. The bio sections I felt were comparable, except for that one test with the two pages of pedigree charts, that one passage alone was time-consuming and a bit confusing. Physical science tests 1-6 I felt were very good, but 7-10 are for content review and not meant to be taken in 70-minutes (on their forums one of the mods even says this, so don't freak out.) The verbal sections I felt were an utter waste of time b/c they're too easy. Do not become overly confident with verbal after taking GS practices, go get the ExamKrackers verbal book or just rely on the AAMC ones.

I bought them about a month ago, I've used them more as practice problems than predictors. They seem hard to me, and the PS sections seem particularly tricky.

I did GS 5 the bio section and got a 4! I also did the PS section and got 6! It is kind of weird because I consistently get 11' and sometimes 12's on BR physics and chemistry. I think the GS requires much more calculations and therefore it is harder for me because I don't know many formulas. Anyone else feels the same way?

yea, i agree the GS exams may require more calculations than the real MCAT. but i think that was a good thing for me, it helped me prepare and the real MCAT didn't seem so bad.

I have taken all of Kaplan tests, but only AAMC 3 so far. I took GS-1 today, and thought the PS was a lot easier than Kaplan, I still ended up making the same PS score with no curve. VR was FREAKING easy, there was no reasoning, the answers were as clear as day in the passages. I ended up making a 31/40 on that. The BS was comparable, but I did get a lot lower score than I have been getting on the Kaplan. I usually make 9-10 on BS, and made a 7 on GS-1.

So would you say to go ahead and do the verbal on those tests anyways? or just do the PS and BS sections timed?

The passages are identical, so it is good reading practice. But the questions are similar to something you would see on the DAT or GRE (you can pick a lot of them out of the passage, without any logic).
