I currently have tons of different Goljan material. In addition to the ~50-100 page "high yield" documents, I have various forms of some sort of Goljan course course manual. The course manual follows the format of the Goljan audios.

I have read somewhere that there is some excellent "Goljan 500 page notes" document going around. I am confused because all of my course note type documents are more like 350 pages.

Can anyone clarify the difference between my ~350 page stuff (documents called "special pathology (326 pages)," "Goljan Notes Vol I (184) and Vol II(166 pages)" and this infamous "Goljan 500 page notes" document?

Also, although I know this has been discussed before, can anyone comment on what is better between these notes and Rapid Review? I have heard the notes are superior and they seem to be a quicker read.

Thanks everyone!!!

I may have just answered my own question seconds after asking it...I am dumb.

I believe the longer, ~500 page notes are a combination of the "Goljan General Pathology" and "Goljan Special Pathology" notes.

Can anyone confirm that this is the case? Also, can anyone give their thoughts on what is better between these notes and Rapid Review? Thank you.

No idea what you're talking about when it comes to 500-page documents. But at that point, I'd say just read RR pathology -- or at least the blue margin notes.

They are notes created by Goljan to accompany his lectures. I believe they were given to students that took his Kaplan course when the audio was created.

At this point I am mainly curious about if they are superior to rapid review like some people seem to think. Also, are they out-dated?

If they were from the year when the infamous audio is from, that's probably several years ago, so an exam trend and/or a handful of facts may be a little different now. They'd be useful, but honestly, if you're after high-yield review, I feel like your best bet is to snag a copy of RR Path from the library or cheap on Amazon or something and use the blue margin notes as the review. Those things are golden.

Then again, someone who's actually seen what you're talking about may have a different opinion. 🙂

Yeah true, thanks for your opinion.

I do have RR right now, that isn't the issue. I just want to know what I will get more from.

I love the RR blue margin notes, but every time I open that book to read the high yields I end up reading parts of the actual text and the charts. It's such a good book. I wish I actually had time to read it cover to cover.

speaking of other golj-dog materials.. has anyone tried his path practice exams? I stumbled on a copy somewhere but I'm not sure if its worth my time..

I have a similar issue as the OP.

Here's what I did:

Allocate 5 days to run through RR, that means 100 pages/day. I tried to annotate FA as I went through the book. This process was tedious, time consuming. In fact, I missed out on some time with Qbank.

Anyway, after the 2 day, that clearly wasn't working out. I switched over to using the audio lectures instead. I used RR as a reference if something was unclear or I wanted to check out the pictures and refer to the blue margins.

So far, its working a lot better. Still time consuming, but I'm getting more high yield stuff and the material is sticking better. The only issue with this approach is you miss out on some information. Goljan covers the biggies, so certain things in the text, may not be covered.

I have no idea if this will hurt or not, but I'm going to hope that Qbank will in any gaps (if there is any at all).

Wouldn't relying on audio only take you much longer than reading the book?
