This book seems like a comprehensive review of all medicine. Its a great resource to understand a disease process, but is it almost too detailed for step I study ? I know that people can rock boards using BRS. A chapter in BRS might take 1/4 of the time to get through compared to a chapter in Goljans 3rd ed. Anybody have any advice? I am slowly reading through Goljan's book but Im thinking when it gets time to start hard core board prep this spring, BRS might be more efficient. But just want to make sure that I wouldnt be missing out on concepts. (high yield concepts that is)

Opinions ?

Goljan path is an amazing book... I honestly didnt feel like I fully understood many of the mechanism underlying many diseases untill I read that book.. I ve read BRS also and its decent for a review of the diseases without going into the mechanisms too much..

Goljan is a beast to read at first. I remember it took me a full day (like 10 hrs) to read the GI section and then another full day to read heme... but it was well worth it. Just finished reading the renal section and many things I initially memorized and I now having a much deeper understanding of....its in outline form; which is good bc the 2nd read through will be much faster.

Its worth it if you have time.
