If three identical anticodons each being represented by the same code If three identical anticodons of GAU are found matching consecutively along an mRNA frame, what will be the corresponding base sequence on the original DNA stretch?
A. CUACUACUA B. CTACTACTA C. CUTCUTCUT D. GAUGAUGAU E. GATGATGAT

2.What is the answer to this? I thought the orignal would not have Uracil.. Uracil came in tRNA??
3.
A man with color blindness A man with color blindness, a recessive sex-linked trait, married a woman with normal color vision. What parental genotypes can be deduced if all of their boys and girls have been born color-blind?
A. XcY and XCXC B. XcY and XCXc C. XCY and XCXC D. XCY and XCXc E. XcY and XcXc
answer is B.. but how is it possible when mother is normal how she have C and c if she was normal she would have had cc.. does this make sense?

4. Fungi's principle structure element is CHITIN or CELLULOSE?

According to schuam's its mostly cellulose.. but achiever says chitin? anyone
5. Blastopore in Protsomes devlops into Mouth? I thought it went from Mouth to anus and anus to mouth for deutrosomes?
6.
Choose the CORRECT statement which of the following feautres are observations of DNA replication.
1. rna priming via primase.
2.Presence of Okazaki fragemetns
3.Elongation via DNA polmerase.
the answer is 1 and 3 why would Okazaki not be a part of it.?

1. E. Uracil is in all forms of rna, where it be mRNA, tRNA or rRNA
2. I can see why you are confused, no idea there

for this question they are asking for the complementary DNA sequence to the anticoding strand. yea i didnt like the way this question was worded...took me a while to figure out.

mRNA GAUGAUGAU
DNA CTACTACTA
compDNA GATGATGAT

Mother being normal means XCXC or XCXc...since it asks that all the boys and girls have been born are color blind u know the mother is XCXc because she needs to donate the defective X chromosome to the boy because the father only donates his Y chromosome. If the mother was normal she wouldve had XCXC not XcXc (this is homozygous recessive and indicates she is affected by colorblindness)

4. Fungi's principle structure element is CHITIN or CELLULOSE? definitely chitin dude...

5. Blastopore in Protsomes devlops into Mouth
Blastopore in Deuterostomes develops into Anus think of it as A is closer to D so Anus-Deuterostomes..thats how i remember.

6. for this question u misread it..it should read
Which of the following observations is/are shared feature(s) of the leading and lagging strands of DNA replication?
1. both lagging and leading require rna primase to get started
2.okazaki fragments are only seen in the lagging strand because of the discountinous dna replication
3.elongation via dna polymerases is seen in both leading and laggging strands.

albuterol.. you're right on... man thanks.. and what is the reasoning for the last okazaki fragments...?? i love how you pulled out the right question from achiever.🙂

Uh, what? I have "Schaums" open right now and it does not say this.

I'm still not too clear on the X linked question:

say you do the cross:

_____ X____ Y
___XC|XcXC XCY
___Xc|XcXc XcY

The ones in bold are affected but the others are not and one of the girls has the exact genotype as the mother, but the question states all of the progeny boys and girls are affected.....?....

Am I missing any details about X linked genes?

Well that cross just gives you the probability, doesn't mean all their kids HAVE to have that ratio of kids. Also none of the other answer choices satisfies the question, so you can also use process of elimination.

yup, agree w/the above poster.they arent saying that ALL the boys and girls have to be color blind in that case they would be XcY and XcXc. Just that boys and girls are color blind. some POE and u get answer XcY and XCXc

yeah.. so basically the answer was not precise of what its asking...so the mother would XcXC or XcXc...?? is that right..

also for the #1.. it just asked for the orignal DNA so that would have been CTACTA. you know..i would have never thought of complimentary strand..

Mother cannot for be XcXc because then she would be color blind since it is sexlinked recessive. the problem states that the mother is normal meaning she is XCXC or XCXc. You know the father is XcY...now they ask you which one will produce colorblind males and females. Only XCXc can do that since it has a defective X chromosome.

for #1 if it just asked for the anticoding DNA strand then it is just the complemenatry to the mRNA and would be CTACTACTA. but it asks for the complementary to the DNA strand so it is the same as the mRNA code except T's replace U's.

I think it's because that is the sequence on the anti-codon. Correct?
