Hi guys! I looked through the forums and didn't see anything recent for biostats aids? It is such a score suck for me and FA just doesn't really put it together for me. I've heard the UWorld biostats (that you can separately buy) is just more of the same UWorld biostats questions which I haven't found super helpful. Any suggestions? Or should I just suck it up and try to learn from FA/Uworld?

I haven't taken the exam yet but why not just read the biostats section in High Yield Behavioral Science?

You should try the Uworld biostats thing...its only $25...it is in a website format and goes over individual topics through modules and questions. Many people ace the actual Uworld Qbank's biostats after going through the $25 modules.

I thought the DIT videos were excellent for biostats and the whole behavioral science section in general. They did a really good job explaining it. I would definitely recommend them.

Is the UWorld Biostats just for biostats or for behavioral as well? Also how much biostats is on step 1?

Its just Biostats and Epi (http://www.uworld.com/step1/step1_subjectreview.aspx). I have done these questions and I believe they are really good if you're having trouble with the calculations, especially, the two flowchart type questions that explain major concepts. The actual amount on the test varies and although I have not taken the test yet, I believe it's around 2-3 calculations qs/block, but again it varies from one test to another.

2-3 q's a block? That's actually a lot more than I was expecting. Do you mean Behavioral + Biostats or just Biostats alone?

I was referring to just Biostat questions because few of my classmates that took the exam within the last two months had about 2-3 simple calculation ques on their exams in each block. They thought the questions were either relatively easy or really hard, as in, if you know the formula, drew the box, then you know the answer or questions on graphs were much harder. The people who take their exams and post their experiences here on SDN, seem to seeing about the same number of questions on both Behavioral and Biostat, overall. So, the exam varies.

Any ideas for a good biostats source? I'm thinking of just reading the last two chapters in High Yield Behavioral Science. Do you think that'll be enough?

How many hours does it take to go through it?

if you have kaplan, use it, itll take some time if you go through it the first time, but Steven Daughtery explains it from A-Z. what you need to know and what is not needed. Takes time though

Khanacademy's videos on Inferential statistics are excellent. The concepts introduced and explained should suffice. For problems you may have to refer smthng else 🙁

I would do the following for Biostat if just FA and uworld is not enough. Doing more questions from Rx or Kaplan will help also. I have never used the HY series.
1. FA + Uworld
2. Uworld Biostat questions (the $25 ones, I think they are about 2 blocks in total)
3. As someone stated above, Daughtery videos either from Kaplan or Becker review, are excellent for all of Behavioral Sciences.

i bought the biostat bank, but i only see very few questions, and i can only access them on their website. which 2 blocks are you talking about?

do the uworld biosta do them many many times with reading of the explanation many timesss

I agree 100%
Also, I wrote down and memorized RR, RRR, AR, ARR, NNT, NNH and used the commbank biostats section as homework to get used to filling my 2x2 table from question stems. Also see the image below. Understand where TN,TP,FN.FP are on this graph and what happens as you increase and decrease values on the x axis. I actually drew this on my placard for my exam a few days ago and got a couple easy points from it. Goljan also has some bio stats explanations that refer to this graph. hope this helps.
