what are good books for an MS3 or MS4 doing their month of anesthesia?
i've heard a lot about secrets. is that the best book?

Good books for pimping? I'd suggest one of these...

I'm sure there are other quality books out there as well.

As for an actual book for a med student rotation, perhaps "Basics of Anesthesia" by Stoelting and Miller aka "baby Miller".

The Recall Series seems to be pretty popular on these boards. If you are looking to purchase a catch-all, Pimp Protector recently came out. It was written by an EM attending who posts on SDN quite regularly.

New Baby Miller is the best book that I can suggest- concise and not too daunting.

The best book for pimping is Anesthesia Secrets, as it is written in a "pimp-answer" format.

I agree, "Secrets" is a good book for pimping. You won't have time to get through Miller or Morgan on a med student Anesthesia rotation, so this book is good enough. Its very focused, but basic. Don't worry, you'll learn the specifics next year.

Good knowledge of Cardio/Pulm physiology from any of the RECALL series will be key also. The old school Board Review Series was great for this back when I was a med student. The attending will definitely expect you to know this stuff cold, since you're fresh off STEP I/II! Good luck.

Secrets

Handbook of anesthesia has what ya need intraop as an MS4. That NMS book should cover ya for sure too.
