Hello, all,

I have foreign degrees from a long time ago (low GPA from BE and so-so GPA from MA).
Since I didn't want to spend too much money, I started at a cc and finished most prerequsites there with 4.0. My pcat composite percentile is 92.
I have volunteering at a pharmacy since last fall and a few trivial volunteer experience in the States (working experience and tons of volunteer experience from my country).
I thought my weakness of taking classes at CC can be supported by my pcat score. (I know some people who were accepted by top Dental schools with CC prerequisites of 4.0)

I heard today that I was not invited to the interview at my top choice school. I don't know why yet.

Do you think it worths applying to other out-of-state public pharmacy schools? If my in-state school does not consider me as a good candidate(I guess my State may consider local CCs better than other states do), I wonder if I have ever chance at other out-of-state public schools.
I am so disappointed...

Would you please give me any advice?

Thank you.

How did you hear you were not invited? Did they email or send you a personal declination of invitation?

A PCAT composite of 92nd %tile shows that you obviously know what you're doing, combined with the work ethic required to maintain a 4.0 in (IMO) difficult science/math subjects should be what you needed to get in.

I echo: How do you know that you didn't get an interview invite specifically?

To splendid day:

1. Taking classes at CC doesn't lower your chances, or make you any "weaker" per say. It is one of those numerous myths about CC's. Always remember that.

2. Yes, yEs, & yeS - apply to out-of-state! Spread your eggs. If you are really serious about doing pharmacy...at least, making it into a school this year, it's an inevitable move that you apply to numerous out-of-state schools. But still, I'm not sure what your surrounding life circumstances might be - family for example. I'm not asking for what they are but if you know you can afford attending to an OUS, yes...apply - it is worth it.

3. With a 92% PCAT + 4.0 GPA, you're on a very promising ground my friend. Why not? aPPly, AppLY, & aPpLy!

Goodluck👍

I have a previous degree, a 4.0 CC GPA for my pre-reqs, and a 98%-ile PCAT. I received interview offers from each of the five schools that I applied to. Two of those schools were in state; three of those schools were out of state. So, definitely apply. Your choices will be limited now because many application deadlines have passed.

I think CC bias can be regionally based in this country. In the area of the mid-west where I live, I have not encountered any bias.

There are other parts to your application besides grades + PCAT. Maybe your essays/personal statement or EC/work/pharmacy experience was weak.

I appreciate your replies, everyone of you.

I knew from the postings here in SDN and called the admission office to confirm. I heard that I was not invited so asked why. The answer was they are not allowed to discuss by email and they would discuss it after the cycle ends(in the summer). It's partly understandable. I guess they do not waste their energy with a person who is not on their list. If they start giving a favor(I thought it was my right to hear the reason) to some, more people may want explanations.

Well, I think my essays were fine because I had it proofread by a tutor and my professor. They said they were good. But who can be sure? Other extra stuffs are not my strength for sure, but I have some pharmacy volunteering experience.

Yes, I contacted an out-of-state school which I wanted to go if I don't mind thier tuition. They said their interview seats are still availabe... it may not be a wise choice since it is one of top schools but I want to study in a good environment.
Because there is no pharmacy school around my neighborhood, I need to move to somewhere with my family.

Thank you for your advices again and I wish you all good lucks! :luck:
