Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone has any good suggestions for introductory neurology books. Not so much board review books, but just a general introductory text. Thanks for your help!

These 3 books are excellent. But pick one and stick to it.

Clinical Neurology, 7e by Roger P. Simon, David A. Greenberg, Michael J. Aminoff
Clinical Neuroanatomy, 26e by Stephen G. Waxman
Adams & Victor's Principles of Neurology, 9e by Allan H. Ropper, Martin A. Samuels

If you're trying to get a head-start on the school year I would encourage you to check out the title "How to drink yourself so silly that all you'll want to do is study come fall." by TeamZissou. 😉

Seriously though if you are just doing this because you're interested in neurology good for you. If you're doing it to get a head-start then don't bother because you will surpass anything you could have learned within the first 2 weeks.

Don't worry, I'm not looking to get a head-start for the school year lol (seems absolutely futile at this point).

I am really interested in neurology, though, and since this is the only point in the next few years that I'll have time to read for leisure I figured I'd see what's out there : )

Radiodoc: thanks so much for the suggestions, I'll definitely check them out!

"DeJong's The Neurologic Examination" by William W. Campbell. Goes beyond what you need for neurology in school: more tests, more pathways, more on what goes into the various neural systems. But it will help you tie everything back to history and physical examination, which is what you really need in neurology.
