Can we have a thread for good news? Because I need to share this with someone who understands, and I'm not "out" about my pre-med status to most of my IRL world.

I took my first MCAT practice test this weekend. I'm in OChem 1 right now and 2 weeks into a PR course, but otherwise haven't had a pre-req in 10 years. I fully expected 4s in the sciences. But somehow I managed an 8P-10V-8B! This may be possible afterall! Now I just need to get my age-addled brain to soak up the rest of this stuff in the next 5 months and I'll be golden.

Anyone else have some good news this week?

Good job, just use that feeling to keep the momentum going.

Good news in my life, I got a puppy! How does this relate to medical school? Nothing to keep you from taking things too seriously like a goofy, clumsy adorable puppy. Laughter is by far the best medicine as we all know 🙂

Aww, what kind did you get? A puppy really is a great way to relieve stress. Just make sure you train it well while it's young so it doesn't turn into a source of stress in 3 years (ask me how I know that one).

He's a golden retriever/coonhound mix from what they guess. He's a huge clumsy black puppy. I adopted him from a rescue group so we aren't totally sure. (I unfortunately know all about that stress as well). This little guy is already being well trained.

Awesome!!! I'm happy for you. You must have a good science brain to do so well after a decade away from science.

Well... this is old news, but my good news is that someone gave me a free MCAT Kaplan course, which I will start in January.

Good news - You got accepted and are officially part of the Class of 2016!

Hahaha, thanks for reviving this! I do think it's worthwhile to celebrate even minor victories.

mafunk, that's awesome. It feels so good when something like that goes right, doesn't it? Now just make sure you take advantage of it. Do your homework, do your practice problems, do your reading. And best of luck!
