Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for any good private tutoring companies ( 1 on 1)? I was looking into Next Step but I read some bad reviews online and wanted to hear about other peoples experiences with them. I am located in New York City so if anyone knows of any private tutors please let me know!

Also what is a competitive score for the new MCAT? Sorry I'm a re-applicant and looking into the new MCAT for the first time!

What makes a score competitive is dependent on a number of different factors, primarily what schools you are aiming for. Check out the Medical School Admissions Requirements (MSAR) guidebook at https://students-residents.aamc.org...-apply/medical-school-admission-requirements/. It's an essential resource for anyone applying, and has data on accepted students' MCAT scores, GPAs, and other information for every MD school.

This chart from the AAMC shows the score distribution and percentile ranks for the 2015 MCAT. As you can see, a 510 is in the 83rd percentile, and a 512 is in the 88th, which roughly correspond to a 31-32 on the old scale, or the average MCAT for matriculating students nationally (31.4 in 2015). A 516 on the new exam is in the 95th percentile, which roughly corresponds to a 35 on the old scale, generally considered a very competitive score. https://aamc-orange.global.ssl.fast...-4aa0-90cb-70184be8c8b8/percentilenewmcat.pdf.

Hope that helps.
