Do you know what I love about being a reapplicant? Of course being one sucks to begin with...BUT we don't have to refill out the entire AMCAS app! it has your answers saved as you are filling out the new one! you don't have to fill out all the coursework again! yessssssss!

yeah, I know...I didn't really need to post a new thread on this haha. I just wanted to share my discovery with the other reapplicants haha

When will the most obvious response to this thread come along? I, myself, am much too nice to say it.

Good luck this cycle.

no you can't say anything because I already made the preemptive defense that I know there's no real reason to post this thread. 😀

I'm too tired to tell the OP the bad news after filling out coursework for three universities.

it's a new day but I'm still wearing my old clothes!!!!

what's the bad news??

the coureswork is still there! I just checked! and it's for the 2010 application!

is there something I am missing here?

apparently there is since everyone seems to know something I don't. tell me now!!!!!!!! please!

No, you're not missing anything. The coursework carries over from your last application.

Didn't for me. I had to input everything, including all my biography information, again.

Interesting. You logged in with your old username and everything?

EDIT: I just tried logging into AMCAS 2010 with my old username and, sure enough, my info isn't there either. Maybe it's because it's been two cycles since I applied. Did you apply in 2009?

Yeah--had to track down to figure out what my username was, but I logged in with the same information. Of course, I applied for the '08 cycle, so that might have something to do with it.

Ahhh that could be it. As I stated above in my edit, I tried logging in and none of my info was there either. It must be because it's been a few cycles.

That's interesting to know.

Most of my biography was there when I logged in with my old ID. The coursework did not transfer. In fact, AACOMAS didn't even implement the transfer of coursework until this year. I guess applying in 2007-2008 used an older system. Stupid.

My 2007-2008 data was still there last year. My 2008-2009 data is still there now. My guess is that it only retains it an extra cycle.

Eh.. I misspoke. My basic biography information... name, dob, and SSN was all there. But things like my family information, my address, etc, I had to put in again.

🙁

I should've opened an app in 08 just to preserve my info. I lost precious time & sanity when re-entering my coursework.

You may still have had to submit to get it to hang onto it. I'm not sure it's worth quite that much...

I think that comes down (for me, at least) to around $0.63 per credit entered...

If that's true, what a drag for folks that take a year off between cycles to bolster their app.

Eh... it went a lot smoother the second time than it did the first. At least, on the AMCAS side of things. My school was stupid the second time around, but I think I got that figured out. I guess I'll see in a month when AMCAS verifies me.

Your MDapps makes me sad. 4 interviews and 0 acceptances? 🙁

looks like I own all of you.

I applied this current year (AMCAS 2009), so all my info is there. Every single bit of it transferred over. 👍 All I have to do is add the new things from this year. You even keep the same AMCAS ID. I definitely have that memorized from the countless online statuses I checked with it this year lol.

...that's what I just said...😕

Hooray mine's all there too!! Besides adding coursework from this year and revamping my work/activities section I should be good to go!😀

I hate all of you.

Then again, it's good to re-enter some of this stuff. Who knows! I might have an epiphany while I'm renarrating my ECs that will get me into med school this time around.

And yes, OP. Looks like the joke's on me 🙁

It was really depressing when I didn't even get on the waitlist from Colorado, and they kept explaining how the waitlist worked during the interviews like everyone who applied (and interviewed) either got accepted or waitlisted.

But, it was really for the best. I wasn't ready for medical school then, and I'm so glad that I had a full year off without having to worry about any of it. I'm now a lot more certain that this is what I want to do, and I'm a lot more prepared to do it.

You even keep the same AMCAS ID.

I do have my same AMCAS ID, I just have to fill out the application again. Which is probably for the best, because I'm changing a lot of my activities and their descriptions, and I have a lot of other things to add anyway.

True! That's how I feel too after getting a year to mull over my life before reapplying. Maybe med schools do know what they're doing! As long as they accept me this year 😉
