I study dentaldecks, but honestly I didn't see much. Also, I study crack the NBDE, but it ididn't worked. I'really appreciated if you can help me out. Good look in your applications. My best Rootc.🙂

Hey Im so happy for you!! 🙂 Im still waiting for my results :scared: How did you find the exam?
Thank you dentheartthrob...it was not sooo tough....there were like 10 questions per section which i had to think a lot....rest were application of concept...
dont worry for the effort u put in, u will get more than 95 ...good luck for ur result...

hi,

Congratulations!!!👍👍👍
How did u find the test?Any pointers?
i would stress on understanding the concepts...the way dentheartthrob and tacoelf went bout preparing is the best way to score more than 90....apart from kaplan review, decks, q papers & USMLE first aid, i found wikepedia to be very helpful....u will have testlets on diabetes & space infection for sure...testlets r very easy and u dont need to worry bout that....DA again is same old stuff repeating ..as long as u know the morphology well u r good....tat is wat i could remember now...if u guys have any specific question pm me...good luck everyone

hi ...dental decks alone is no good...atleast do kaplan review once so that u will have a basic idea...important thing is think u r reading to gain knowledge( i know its easy to say) and discuss each concept with someone...discussing really works...then do decks and q papers...dont lose hope...u have it in u... what u need is a bit of hard work...iam sure u can do it....go for it...good luck

Congrats

Were there any questions on ethics and Clinical based questions ?
From where should we read these topics ?

" i used kaplan review, decks, USMLE firstaid, Qpapers from 1976 to 2005 and wikepedia...."

Solving these old q-papers,between 1976-81 was of any use to you in the exam ?

it is kind a unfair though
i took the old test
i had 89 for all 4 sections and my overall score is 89
according to new calculation system,my score is supposed be at least 96

🙁😕

U r getting it all wrong.the new pattern scores are no of questions answered correctly in each subject whereas the old pattern is percentile in each subject.u should check out the forms where the scoring pattern has been discussed in great lengths.

it is still unfair

if it is unfair to anybody it would be to those people who took the new pattern of the exam

Hey Dino,

I need to know the graduation scale used for marking NBDE scores. Like for how many correct answers per section will mean 99 percentile and so forth.

The current USMLE standards say if you score around 235/300 questions right, you get a 99 percentile. How far how good is this standardization applied to NBDE? 😕

Mayank.

why is that?
the new format is so easier than old format that everybody can answer more question than those who took the old format.
have you ever heard anybody got 80 90 raw score from old format???????
answer is ***NO***
do u want me to proove
sure i can!
here is the proof ,check the tables at the end of this pdf document
http://www.ada.org/prof/ed/testing/technical_report_complete.pdf
well you may say go ahead and take tke new format , well i donot think 89 is a bad score anyways
but still it is unfair

:luck:🙂

because in the old format you can score less on your raw score and score higher, my friend scored in his 70's on his raw score and still got a 90.

Hey Mayank

wha'ts up bro? uhm, I think Turk Guy already posted the link from the post above. To get a 99, before on the old format it averages around in the mid 80s to low 90's raw section depending on the section (DA would seem to be higher), now a days it seems as if the margin of the raw scores and composite scores are nearly the same when it comes to getting in the low 90's and mid 90's (overall composite)...check out scores on new format, its some where in this forum....one guy literally was making 90's per section but his composite was just a little bit higher then his raw...anyway, bro, wish me luck with this new format, I know you'll do good when your time comes.

ciao,

Dino

U make a good point about more number of people scoring 80's and 90's raw score in new pattern.i think the reason is more about SURVIVAL .Speaking for myself, preparing for the test i don't think i would be studying(atleast glancing)half the text books that i have, if it hadn't been for the new pattern scaled score thing...........ergo ......higher raw scores even though there isn't much change in overall percentile score.

PerenDent,
I posted a question to denthearthrob and tacoelf regarding the new format. I'd appreciate your input as well. My question was how much did the new format affect you seeing as how we are accustomed to the old exam format from practice? Were you caught off guard by the new format, as in was it more difficult getting into a rythm since you were jumping from subject to subject? Ideally, we would be able to run through a series of old exams that matched the actual test format so, come test day, it's just second nature. Hence my question.
Thank you.
