Hi everyone, I JUST was accepted off the waiting list into the PharmD program at a local University.

My severe problem is that I am missing a class - Anatomy & Physiology II.

Not to get too emotional, but I had a death in my family and it severely altered my psyche for the negative and I did NOT pass the class.

I had held a 3.5+ GPA, did research, won awards/grants, and volunteered prior, just this one thing that screwed me up completely.

Now, I found that I can take a CRASH COURSE of anatomy & physiology II in the SUMMER 2013 from July-August, BUT I'M NOT SURE IF THEY ARE GOING TO ACCEPT IT!?

Can anyone offer advice?

I can probably take this class, but they may deny it outright because technically I don't have "all" the pre-reqs completed, even though I can still finish it very quickly and I can guarantee I will get an "A" in the class.

Do pharmacy schools make exceptions? Am I out of luck? Has anyone been in this position before?

I'm so close and I feel sad that I made this mistake, but I am calling around at the moment asking.

Please help me out and please no bashing.

Every school will be different, no one on here will be able to answer the question. During your interview/ acceptance did they mention that you needed credits prior to matriculation? You really should call the school and find out what they say.

I guarantee they won't take the credit if you don't take the class. I'd try to get the class done before anyone notices.

Which school? UIC will not take it, but Midwestern will... the rest I don't know.

It is my understanding that for most pharmacy programs, all science and math prerequisites must be completed before matriculation. Your best bet would be to speak to the admissions manager.

From my personal experience, I did not have all my prereqs done when I was admitted. I was a career changer and have never taken a college level economics class. My SOP admitted me and the offer was contingent of my completing the class during summer school. I did the class at a local community college that summer and started pharm school in August.

Granted that is not exactly the same situation you are in so I would call the admissions office, explain the situation and ask if you can retake your prereq class in summer school.

Thanks for the reply guys.

It's Roosevelt Pharmacy college in Schaumburg.

Instead of calling, because I feel like they are going to blow me off, I am going to personally drive there in the morning.

I actually live in Indiana so it will be a 1 hour drive, but hopefully it will show my dedication.

The class I need (A&P II) starts in July 1, and ends Early August, so I can promise them I can take it and pass it.

A one hour drive from Indiana to Schaumburg? It might be one hour in the middle of the night but not during rush hour. Just look for the IKEA and you'll find their building. Roosevelt is the school which sent out mailings to pharmacists in NE IL and SE WI asking them to be preceptors for their students. They sent me one even though per Wisconsin law, I couldn't precept yet because I didn't have enough experience.

I thought classes at Roosevelt start mid summer though because it is an accelerated program? I checked the website and it says you have new student orientation the first week of July with classes starting right after that.

Yea they start like soon if not already I think ?

The only way to know for sure is to talk to the school, but...

Assuming that classes start in August (and not mid-July as someone above said), it sounds like you'd be OK. Even if it turns out they can't let you in this year, maybe they'd save a space for you in next year's class.

Good luck! Let us know how it turns out.

Some time ago, I was accepted to a school that required a statistics course. However, I never had taken a statistics class in my life. Graduated 4 years later, still haven't taken one. You're accepted, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

... Lol. They can rescind their offer
