Did you get the opportunity to reject a school? Which school did you give the big NO to? Give us waitlisters a tad bit of hope that we'll get a pretty little seat in that class. Thanks.

Told Albany (mid-March), Palm Beach Atlantic (April 1), and Purdue (just this week - great school and great people, hope I did the right thing). Will be telling UCSF and/or UF soon (depending on Austin). Good luck :luck: .

I got into and declined spots at: UNC (out-of-state), Oklahoma University, Midwestern-Downer's Grove, and Northeastern (graduate accelerated pharm.D). I also got into UIC but I recieved a reject letter the same day so I'm assuming I don't have to decline that spot 🙂 If I do, that will be added to the list. Good Luck to everyone still waiting :luck: :luck:

it's funny...I got accepted to VCU (#1 choice) and then 2 days letter university of charleston called me to ask me if i had received the wait list letter they had sent me. i didnt, so i said no and then they said they were calling to let me know that i've been accepted so basically to ignore the letter.

I'll be declining South soon (99% sure).

I see you have finally seen the light. UGA has a better football team anyway 😀

I declined UIC even though that is where I thought I wanted to go for the last three years.

Starsweet, if you have to choose between UGA and Texas (best football team), which are you going to choose?

LOL, well if Texas has the better football team of the two, then I guess the decision is a no-brainer...

Seriously, though, I have no idea. I've been totally set on Austin because I think it's a great city and an awesome place to live. I got good vibes from the interview too. And I've been telling my friends for YEARS that I want to get out of Georgia. Nothing against it, but I've been here for 16 years. I kinda wanted to try something new. But UGA is also a really great school too. Athens is a cute college town, and it actually reminds me of a really small version of Austin, hehe. And I'm thinking my chances of getting into UT are really slim since I'm out of state. If I did, it would really be a miracle. Not to mention if I went to Texas, I'd have to take genetics in the summer. But that'd be a really lame reason not to go there. By the way, I'm a little worried about that, because I think by the time we hear from UT, registration for summer classes would have ended. Do you know when their genetics class starts?

How about you? Are you set on Texas, or would you go to another one of your schools (UCSF, UF)?

I am set on Texas. If you replaced UGA with UF in everything you said, that is my exact situation. As for genetics, I am a bit nervous because one of the summer sessions is already closed and the UT site doesn't say if it is the early summer session or the later one. I can't find it anywhere close in Florida either. You can call Greg Caldera and ask him because he handles that pre-req stuff. I am trying to be patient and not call yet, but, if we haven't heard anything by Monday, I'll call. Then I'll pass on the info.

PS-Is that your dog in your avatar? If so, are you bringing him to school? I can't decide.

Chris
What made you change your mind after three years of wanting to go there? Bad feeling at the school?

Declined the following schools: Wingate, MWU-CPG, WA state u, and LECOMs alternate list.

Hope that someone feels hopeful :luck:

Why not Palm Beach Atlantic??? That's like my dream school! Right there on the beach...

Just a bit too strict religiously. Church I can handle but no living with someone of the opposite sex (when nothing is going on) I can't. I have always liked to live iwth guys because I feel safer and there is less drama. At PBA this isn't allowed.

I live near the beach now and will miss the sound of the ocean, but cost of living in Palm Beach is sky high. I'll go to San Fran first.

Hmm, I would like to ask Greg about genetics but at the same time, I hope he doesn't think I'm being presumptuous by "assuming" I'll be going there without being accepted yet. But, that issue is really making me nervous. As for UGA, I'm all set, no more prereqs, no more hassles.

Funny you ask about my dog. He's a handful and my mom wants to get rid of him through me. I'd like to bring him but probably won't because it'd be so hard to have to go back and forth between school and the apartment for him. It's too much of a hassle. Even now he's already "neglected" because most of my family is out during the day.

Really? I have a friend who works @ a resort in West Palm Beach...he has many friends that go to Palm Beach Atlantic, and the general consensus with them is that once you're in there, it's not as strict as it appears. They party all the time with no fear of getting in trouble by the school.

Are you serious??? That is ridiculous- I mean, seriously. It reminds me of Bob Jones University for anyone who knows SC! But anyway, do they actually follow up to see where people live and who they live with off campus? Unbelievable!!!

Pretty much. I think I wanted to go there based mostly on the price. The entire organization there right now doesn't seem to have their act together. They were so rude to me on the phone. They didn't meet their own self-imposed deadlines. Instead of showing results they just came up with excuses and that is a HUGE pet peeve of mine.

On the other hand, the instructors and the dean at Midwestern - Downers Grove care so much about the program and the quality of the pharmacists that they graduate there that they changed my mind. The campus is cleaner, it is backed by a nature preserve (I'm a walker). Ever since I made that decision, I haven't regretted it at all. Midwestern keeps in contact with me almost every week with letters sometimes just to let me know what my classes will consist of when I start there. They had a meet and greet and the Dean was walking around getting to know everyone. We get little perks like free scrubs. Anytime I call them I am greeted politely and my questions are addressed.

I'm thinking I made the right choice.

Chris

It is good to hear that PBA isn't as strict as it seems to be but I know some people who want it very strict. When I mentioned the no-cohabitation rule to a fellow applicant at my school and how I liked to live with a male roommie, she looked at me like I had 3 heads 😀 . I guess there is just a place for everyone.

I know what people are saying about just having that "feeling" when choosing a school, whether it be in a city or a place where you can hike and bike. For instance, I loved Purdue but I couldn't deal with all the corn fields and small, small town life. But I loved Texas (a city with a small town feel and an airport) and had that "feeling" there.

I just can't wait until I'll have summers when i can bring my dog out. (Austin seems pretty cool with dogs 😍.)

have rejected: UOP, Univ of Colorado, Purdue Univ, USN, and UCSD 😳 good luck to all of you!
