PI: You take the pipet, and you turn the knob to 100, then you attach a tip like so, then you press the plunger, then you dip the pipet in the solution, then you release the plunger–

[self-insert here]: Wait wait wait, can you show me that first part again?
Wow please read thread before speaking bull. It's a lab that tests actual human subjects. You know, "do no harm and make this lab lose their funding by hurting human beings".

Also... I have shadowed a wide variety of techniques like Western blotting, PCR, etc. So not quiet sure you realize you're insulting any researchers that most definitely observed doing most things before attempting themselves.

Stop responding to this little shyt. He's probably just trolling now, or he's just been inordinately coddled his whole life.

I will never understand why pre-meds come on here and make an entire thread to ask a question they should be able to answer themselves. FFS, you're an adult, you should not need advice from a bunch of strangers to tell you how to send an email.

OP, sorry for the situation you are in but it seems like you may still be suffering from mental health issues as you previously mentioned. It's not okay to be rude to others when they don't understand what you mean. They are not attacking you but simply asking for more clarification.

^And this

1) Focus on your mental health. Seek professional help (if you aren't already), social support groups, and make friends. College, in many regards, is primarily about self and interpersonal development.
2) Work on your communication skills. Being cool, calm, and collected under pressure (or when dealing with anxiety) is a critically important characteristic in life in general (and even more important for someone that wishes to go into medicine).
3) Take a deep breath. It looks like you have managed to address the miscommunication and get back into the lab. If working in this lab is truly important to you, and something you might pursue in a gap year, give it your very best. But remember, your well-being comes first. You need to strike a balance in life that will be more accommodating of your GAD.

Good luck.

PCR?

You mean you stood there while your PI pressed buttons on a thermal cycler?
Which is pretty much just a lab microwave

Sorry, my spiciness is coming out with all these dumb comments and assumptions.

When the story isn't clearly communicated, people have to make assumptions to fill in the gaps. Sorry, man, but it's been like pulling teeth to try to get an actual explanation about what happened out of you.

Every time someone makes a "dumb comment," you respond with a piece of information that was not stated in your original post and could not have possibly been known to anyone but yourself.

? I said it was a Psych lab. Self explanatory...

You're getting pretty consistent, unanimous feedback from multiple sources. There are two possible conclusions:

1) Literally everyone else in this thread is an idiot who is simply incapable of understanding your perfectly coherent, straightforward posts
2) You are failing to communicate effectively
