What? Why should we be OK that people want to make a certain group's name a derogatory word? Especially a group that has suffered a history (and present) of severe discrimination and hatred?

mainly cause if my AB was an A my gpa would be 3.75. Also my gpa went up from 3.613 to 3.615

You are way too thin-skinned to become a physician... Or a gardener, or a golf ball collector. Take a few years off school and go work in customer service or in the food industry. When you come back, you will be so scared of failing, you will get straight As and will be a lot less brittle. You will then be ready to log on to SDN.

It's telling that the only people I know who use "gay" to mean "stupid" are males. It's really rare to hear females use "gay" as a negative term. Is it because men find it empowering to denigrate others, to emasculate other men in order to enhance their own masculinity? This is a national phenomena, hence why we have commercials about how saying "gay" isn't cool. It is ingrained in our heads at a young age. Yes immature, but wrong meh, who can decide that?

Gay, like ***, is not "owned" by homosexuals. Travel to europe and call someone gay, and they'll think your complimenting them. The n-word works quite differently.

That a certain term is widely used in the modern lexicon is not a self-justifying truth. Would you say "that's so ghetto" to express disapproval in a professional or even casual setting? Can you see how this might be perceived as lacking sophistication and tact?Homosexuals are not claiming "ownership" of the word; it is a word that has been leveled against them with a history of discrimination and violence, which you might well know. At one point in time, it was perfectly acceptable to use the "n" word. Fortunately society has largely grown more enlightened.
