I'm pretty sure UCSF is pickier than UCLA

UCSF sends out 1500 secondaries. UCLA sends out 3000, and they have fewer applicants to begin with.

I'm going with 80 which is still a crap-load.



Don't sweat the 70k dollar tuition since you'd be getting in state tuition the next 3 years. It all evens out when you consolidate your debt. 😱

Did you guys ever receive "file complete" emails from JHU prior to receiving invites? All my stuff should have been in about two weeks ago, and I haven't heard anything yet...

I am in the same boat as you. I only got an email saying that they received my paper secondary, and all of my letters were in more than 2 weeks ago. I called them and they told me to wait at least another week. looks like they are pretty backed up...

Yes, I got a secondary from them on 08/02/05. I guess they screen since they said "after preliminary review.. bla bla bla." I haven't touched their secondary yet though.

Oh, and they changed their name on June 8th to "Medical University of Ohio."

I haven't either. I've been stuck on this "cultural competence" question for two weeks, had to put it on the backburner cos I'm working on 4 UC secondaries right now! 😱

Yes on the 8/12, but I had to look on my status page to find out - they never emailed me.

Nope, no word from Colorado here. Not sure why they are not sending out all the secondaries at once, since they don't screen. I am not sure I will bother filling it out though - they only take <30 people out of state a year, and the first year of tuition will really hurt.

I received the receipt e-mail on 8/2 and the secondary app on 8/3, so it should probably come soon.

I'm trying to decide if I should bother to submit the MUO app though. First of all, I don't know what to say about their "Describe a time when you exhibited cultural competence" question and secondly, they don't take that many out-of-state people so I'm wondering if it's worth it to spend the $ and send in my secondary.

For instate they seem to cut off at 3.0/24 and for out of state it's 3.5/27.

I got it today. It's pretty nice. I wish more schools would make a serious effort to present themselves well. So far I've only received fancy brochures from Albany, Dartmouth and Rochester.

Don't expect one from UW unless you applied MD/PhD. Its almost impossible to get in if you are not a Washington or WICHE state resident.
