Okay, I already had bad vibes from Jefferson, but now it's a whole lot worse. They don't even tell you that their application will time out!! So I spent a few minutes thinking about what to write in the extra space, and then a few minutes making sure it was written well, and I submitted and not only lost everything I had written (because the application had timed out) but also had to go back and redo the other little questions!!!! That's just not acceptable. Especially since they don't mention that you have, what, 10 minutes? to complete the application.

Sorry, I just had to vent. It's totally not a big deal, but it's so annoying! I feel like they're idiots -- first they couldn't have their application even functioning properly, and now this?? Aside from the idiocy of asking for our SAT scores. Um, yeah, I'm not so into Jefferson (yeah yeah not just because of their application).

(it also timed out again while editing what I wrote...at least this time I had a copy of it!)

I did not get the Rochester secondary, but filled it out by going to their website. There is no essay for that app.

what's the length of this description that I should shoot for? any thoughts?

I was wondering about this too, except I took about 5 years off between undergrad and now.. This is pretty much my entire PS, what I've been doing since college and how that led me where I am now.. do I really need to restate it all or just put a few lines of summary? I'd love to be a smartass and just put "please read personal statement for details" 😛

So this is very annoying....I got timed out too while checking over my application the first time and lost everything. Then, the second time I rush to submit....hopefully everything was entered right. THEN, after you submit, it doesn't even update the status page!! How are we supposed to trust the site that it was submitted!! GRRR

UCSD's secondary is finally uploaded & available if you've gotten the "approval" e-mail - just thought I'd let y'all know.

How long was it before ya heard/got the "Approval' email? They just got my AMCAS a few days ago.

Has anyone heard from Wright State? I applied early decision and my AMCAS was processed and distributed on June 18. Still no word from them, the website says to expect a secondary e-mail within 3 weeks after submission...I'm not freaking out yet but will be soon!

I'm still waiting on these two as well.

On the U of M Medical School thread, they said that a bug had hit the program. So I'm thinking that maybe that's stopped them from sending out secondary invites for a day or two.

As for NW, I have no idea what's going on. Do they purposefully stagger how many they send out a day so they don't get bombarded with secondaries? (They do after all ask for a quick turnaround)

There's nothing I've seen to suggest that about Rochester but I do know some other schools basically say that.

Actually, here's the exact wording from the Rochester site:

"Please do not submit a Supplemental Application until you have been notified by AMCAS that your application was sent to us. To start the Supplementary Application process with the University of Rochester, please click here."

Ok, so after the debacle of Columbia's secondary (don't even get me started on how inconsiderate that one is and how lame the essay is. . .) I get UCSD's secondary and I get to write TWO PAGES (in a font "large enough to read") to write an "autobiographical sketch", not forgetting to include every phase of the last 20 years AND finding some way to bring in my motivations for medicine. Ok, motivations for medicine. . . DIDN'T MY G-DDAMN PS DO THAT?! And 2 pages to cover 20 years?! 10 years to a page?! (Yes, the first half of my life really WAS as interesting as the 2nd, thanks to a mobile and adventurous childhood) That's just not enough SPACE! Not to mention the fact that it's a cop-out of an essay. . . did they not want to think up a thought-provoking or worthwhile prompt? Yeesh.

They do not screen pre-sec. Login and check your status - you may already be approved for an interview.
