I was verified around June 14th and I just got Rush and NYMC yesterday. Ther other schools that you listed haven't even sent theirs out yet. Don't fret--they'll come soon enough. 😉

was NYMC via snail mail?

Alright, I have been verified for about 2weeks now and have only recieved 5 secondaries out of 13 schools i applied to. NYMC, RUSH, LOYOLA, NYU, UIC, BU have not sent any secondaries out or at least none to me. Doesnt this negate the whole apply early bulls**t? I mean i know people who havent submitted their amcas, who are planning on submitting next week and they are going to be on the same boat as me. I personally need the early applying advantage, but i feel like i am not getting it because these lazy schools are taking their sweet ass time to release invitations. Anyone else feel the same?

I haven't received most of my secondaries, and only one of them screens. At least you're getting a leg up on the 5 that you have received...

Does NYU screen? I haven't heard anything from them yet but see that some of y'all have gotten a secondary from them.

Finally got Northwestern; gotta finish off Pritzker (what an app!) and Dartmouth first

I've received 7 secondaries, sent 6 out (waiting for adobe pro full version to show up so I can do the 7th). Got receipt for primaries from 3, waiting for secondary links to become available or invited for secondary. Waiting to hear from 5.

I'm getting secondaries out ASAP... the lag time for me is waiting for my LORs to be sent out.

what's the NYMC secondary like?

Does anybody actually just answer "no" to the Tufts question "is there any special reason...."???

No essays. You just fill out the names and titles of all the people writing LORs for you. Once you submit your payment, you're done.

Sweet 🙂

did anyone submit their UMich secondary in yet? On the instructions, it says that when they consider you for an interview, they'll request for LORs. So i thought that they will carefully screen after you submit your secondary before they ask for LORs. But about an hour after I submitted my secondary, they emailed me requesting for my LORs. Did everyone else have a quick turnaround for LOR request? I don't see how they could have reviewed my app that quickly

I had the exact same thing happen- got a LOR request even though they already had my packet, only hours after I submitted. They wanted a photo too.

Weird. I got Rochester's brochure twice.. guess they reeeeally want me to send $$$

oh yeah, nice touch with the xeroxed letterhead guys 👍 😛

LOL
I got asked for my letters and I haven't even turned in my secondary yet.

Yea i hear columbia's online as well but i wont fill it out until they send me an email.

I got my email from Johns Hopkins and Columbia the day I mailed the packets out, and they pretty much eluded to it being a good thing if you were smart enough to find it and get it in on your own.

Has anyone received any secondaries via snail-mail? I'm not living at my mailing address for another month and I try to go back once a week to get my mail. Can you guys post which school you've received secondaries through postal mail? Thanks a lot! 🙂

the only one that i've received via snail mail was Dartmouth. I got stuff from Rochester and Washington-St. Louis in the mail, but they emailed too.

Quick question,
Do schools give you a deadline to complete secondary based on the date they sent it to you?
Reason why I am askng is that between now and end of August I have no time to work on secondaries. Wouldn't want to start on it now.
Any ideas...

Feinberg/Northwestern emailed me the link on 7/18 and told me I had to complete it by 7/25 (don't know if this was midnight or not, it just said the date). I've also had 5 that say to do it within 30 days of receiving the email. Rush gives you 30 days from the time you create your account on the site (there's actually a countdown clock). So if anybody had created their login even though the application was not available, THAT'S WHEN YOUR 30 DAYS STARTED! To me this is no biggie, but some people take that long so it's good to know if, like me, you were poking around in all the websites.

OMG i just got UCSD's secondary invite! Finally a UC! 🙂 I'm siked

Did you get an invite, or just the receipt notification?

Has anyone been able to access the OSU Status Page? I was able to get into the site with the secondary, submit it and everything else, but I can't get into the status page. I got one password formula with my first email and a different one with the email confirming receipt of the secondary and the school doesn't seem to know what's going and just says no one can get in.

Since I applied to so many flippin' schools, I just thought I'd share what I've gotten from whom and when. Here goes...

Georgetown 7/7 email
MCW 7/8 email (fast completion)
GW 7/8 email
Rush notification 7/10, link 7/21 email
Keck 7/10 email
OSU 7/11 email
Einstein 7/11 email
Washington-St Louis 7/11 email
UCSD notification 7/11 email
Case Western 7/12 email
Pritzker 7/14 email
Mayo 7/14 email
NJMS 7/14 email
Temple 7/15 email
Columbia 7/17 email
U of Michigan 7/18 email
Feinberg/Northwestern 7/18 email
Darthmouth 7/19 snail mail
Jefferson 7/19 email
Albany notification 7/20 email
Wake Forest notification 7/20 email
Vermont 7/20 email
UCD notification 7/20 email
Rochester 7/21 snail mail
NY Med Coll 7/21 email
Tufts 7/21 (SAA #) snail mail

aah...that's it for now

Did everyone get NYMC except me? I was processed 6/14 by AMCAS... or are others waiting to?

dont' worry - i haven't heard from NYMC either

There was another thread about the ohio state status page...someone called and the admissions people said i guess that no one was going to be able to acsess it until august or something..

I am actually leaning toward answering "no" to this question......it seems to me that they are looking for more dire personal circumstances, such as if you are married, and your spouse works in Boston so you need to stay local. I don't think they just want you to list things you like about the school. What does anyone else think about this? However, I don't want to look lazy by not writing anything.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to just go with 'no'. I don't want them to see through any other bull **** response I could come up with

Right, which I think if you just find something on their website or something, they'll see through it. And especially since they explicitly say, "Do not feel compelled to turn to research or creative writing," they don't want to read bullcrap and will probably appreciate more your answering "no".

Also, for secondaries that you print out and mail in, is normal quality paper ok? I don't know if this is being picky.......

I wrote some BS, but what I really want to say to, "Why do you want to studay at [insert name here]?" is "BECAUSE THERE'S A MEDICAL SCHOOL THERE!"

Finally got case westerns.

Essays are:

The Admissions Committee is interested in gaining insight into you as a person. Type or Copy and Paste a brief essay on a subject outside of medicine, which has been an area of great interest to you. Please limit your essay to 1 page (about 3,500 characters).

If you have had experience doing research or other scholarly work, please describe your experience, including the question you pursued and how you approached it, your results and interpretation of the results, and any thoughts about what this experience meant to you. Please limit your response to 1 page (about 3,500 characters).

Both says REQUIRED.

Did EVERYONE do the 2nd essay??? I just have undergrad, no grad school or research! Can I skip this one?

If you don't have any research experience, then I would assume it's ok to skip this one.

What about UNECOM? It is D.O. so I don't know if that is a turnoff for you, but just a suggestion! 🙂

Dont really know too much about the DO schools, but that would qualify as New England (and would be less of a reach than Yale and Harvard)

Should I talk about Dartmouth being my number one choice(tied with MI) in their open ended essay? thanx

I don't think they do. I applied online and didn't receive a confirmation or anything through email. I just got their brochure thru snailmail and that was it.

Does anyone know if we can save our info online on the Dartmouth secondary? I guess I could just type directly into the word version of the app, but I'd rather enter it online then print a word copy so I don't have to worry about how to format the courses, etc.

Thanks!

I finally finished Pritzker last night!

Does Tufts screen? I have yet to get anything from them and have been verified since 6/29.

Wait why would you assume that you can skip it it says both required in the bottom?
