Got to sit in on some lectures at KCUMB yesterday...

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Anyone have any thoughts? I've applied to all three but haven't gotten more than views from the students who were giving the tours (which of course were probably not extremely accurate.) I like all three for different reasons but want more factual reasons to go to one or the other. I'm thinking that I will go into family medicine.

Have you heard back from any of them? My contact with MUHealth and KCUMB has been nothing but positive thus far...KU just seems to make everything very "difficult"...to me.

From my experience on Monday, I'm quite interested in KCUMB..the systems based approach seems to be right up my alley..

I don't have any final information for any of them. I will know around the 28th from KCUMB and soon thereafter from Mizzou. I don't know when KU gets back. Some time in March. KCUMB seems fantastic, I'm just concerned about the fact that it is a DO school - a concern that is mostly unfounded from what I hear, yet it is still there. I very much doubt that I'll get accepted to all three of the schools anyway, but I'm trying to get more information about them (am wishing I could write in the medical student forums to hear what they think) just in case I get accepted to more than one of the schools.
The opinion seems to be anti-KU at the moment.
I was very impressed with KCUMB while there. Then I went back and read the comments at this site on the interview feedback area for KCUMB and a lot of people said negative things involving the students attitude toward the school. I didn't get that impression at all but I only spoke with the people giving the tour. Did you talk to anyone else?
The fact that it is located in intercity Kansas City doesn't bother me at all. Of course I live in Kansas City and figure as long as me and my kids are safe, the appearance of the area matters little.
So your from ST Jo, huh? My husband's family lives in St Jo so we're up there a lot.
I interviewed at KCUMB February 13. You interviewed the 20th?

I just live in St. Joe...because of work. Grew up in KS.

Haven't interviewed...just went and spent some time with a current MSII at the school on Monday. He's a friend of a friend. Also know an MSI, but haven't talked to him since the day before he started.

Good luck when you hear back.

Personally, I would be DELIGHTED to get into either MU or KCUMB because of their emphasis on primary care (even though MU is an MD program)...and because of the curriculum. The systems based approach is something I think I would really enjoy.

I'm hoping for '07 admission, but '08 might be more likely.
