Hello,
I am a senior finishing up my last semester, so this is my last chance at improving my GPA..

I think I will either end with a 3.64 or a 3.6, as I will probably get a B in a class.
Is there a big difference between a 3.64 and a 3.6?

Also, my GPA is pretty low because of my Freshman fall semester, where I broke my shoulder and needed surgery, so I missed about 3 weeks of classes and totally bombed all my classes (2.47 gpa)....... do you think adcoms will be somewhat understanding of this?

Thanks guys!

I think you're fine! It's not uncommon to have a really bad first semester, especially since you broke your shoulder. I think adcoms will understand

No

No, and in fact, it brings your judgment into question, because instead of taking Ws, you tried to bulldoze your way through. On the flip side, you were a freshman, and so your thinking can be forgiven. A rising GPA trend helps even more.

yeah, I agree. I definitely should have, but my advisor was discouraging me from it... I should have just done it anyways. anyways, thanks for your input lol

No. A 3.64 won't appreciably increase your odds of admission over a 3.6.

Maaaaaaybe. @Goro is right: it calls your judgment into question. But adcoms will be more forgiving than if it were during your junior or senior year. You were young and dumb. (No offense intended; "young and dumb" is the only way they make eighteen-year-olds.)

Your adviser is an idiot. Was s/he 18, too? :annoyed:
