Hello everyone. I am currently a pre-optometry student right now. My GPA is a 3.88 right now and my science GPA is currently a 3.85. However, I am going to apply to optometry school without a bachelor's degree. I only need 22 more hours of pre-requisites, and I will be eligible to apply to the optometry programs that do not require a bachelor's degree. How well do you all think I have to do on the OAT in order to get into optometry school, considering I won't have a bachelor's degree? Any tips or suggestions for me and my situation? Thanks!

A couple more questions.. When should I start applying to schools? Is December too late? I wanted to take the OAT in december because I won't take Ochem until the Fall semester..

When are you looking at enter Optometry school? Fall 2014? Fall 2015? If you are planning for Fall 2014, and can submit your application through OptomCas before you take the OAT and you pre-reqs. Also, you have a great GPA, so even a score of 300 will look get you an interview. How about your shadowing hours, volunteer experience, etc.?

Although you are interested in matriculating before you earn your Bachelor's Degree, you do know that most schools will give preference to applicant's holding a bachelor's degree over applicants with similar academic credentials who do not have a degree?

Just something to think about!

I plan to enter Optometry school in the Fall of 2014.. So, it's okay to apply even before you have taken the OAT?? I planned to take the OAT in december and apply then.. What do you think??

I think it's okay for some schools to apply before taking OAT. Many schools have different deadlines
