Hello, I am going into my 3rd year who is finishing a BS in Bio in 3 years and i have an overal gpa of 3.89 and a pre-rec of about 3.93 and an OAT of ( as of now) 300( my practice OATs) i am planning on taking the real on in 2 months, what are my chances? i am planning to apply to SUNY, NECO, Selus and SCO, can anyone plz help me out lol

Your GPA is very high so it looks great there. Make sure you have experience in the field, such as you shadowed OD's. Also try to do the best you can on your OATs, im sure you will be accepted somewhere!

By the way, the opted website has statistics on average GPA and OAT accepted at those schools you mentioned. You can also check threads here by searching for stats of students.

Best of luck.

My OAT instructor once said "A low GPA can be off-set by a high OAT score, but a low OAT score cannot be off-set by a high GPA." In other words -- aim to score much higher than 300 for the OATs. 300 is not bad, but it could be better. Just giving you an honest answer 🙂

You have great grades! So make sure you do your best on the OAT, and you shouldn't have a problem with the schools you are applying to. Out of those four, SUNY will probably be the toughest to get into, but if you score well on the OAT, it shouldn't be a problem. Make sure you apply early, and don't forget to shadow optometrists 🙂

A 340 OAT score would be awesome and will only help you. Honestly a 2.6 GPA is quite low and it won't improve your chances of getting in.

so I just took my Test Yesterday and this is what i got

QR:300
RC:320
BIO:350
GC:350
OC:320 (this one confused me lol)
PHY:400 ( was so happyy lol)
TS:370
AA:340

I did must better on the real one than on the Kaplan i got 310s on the Kaplan and did way better on the Real one. And it is true that the Opted one is very close to the real deal so i was happy in that sense. i am just worried that b/c my OAT scores are so spread out that they would hurt me a bit. any ideas?

Also i been shadowing 2 optometrists this summer and last summer i was shadowing one.
