Hey guys,

I'm currently trying to boost my GPA at the moment, finishing up ochem2, physics2, micro during this spring semester.

For my lower div science classes (3 biology courses, 3 chemistry courses), I had 2 C+'s and 2 D's, but raised all of them to an A. I also got A's in ochem1, and physics1.

So that leaves me with all A's and 3 B's (2 B's in lab, 1 B in lecture).

I thought I was on the right track and expected my GPA to be better, but my science gpa was barely a 3.1. I'm not sure if I'm calculating my GPA wrong, but I plan on applying early this June while taking anatomy and physiology during the summer/fall 2013.

Just to clarify, (because there's a lot of posts on this topic that has various answers), when calculating my GPA, should I average the original grade and retake grade OR should I just calculate everything individually including original and retake?

I was really confident in my GPA since I had all A's, 1 B, and 2 B's in lab, but seeing my GPA is really bumming me out. I worked so hard to raise these grades while volunteering, shadowing a dentist, and tutoring on the side, but now I'm not so sure if I should apply early in June. I'm also going to take the DAT in June, so I do not have scores to share yet.

Any thoughts? advice? anything would be appreciated...

All of your grades get counted, doesn't matter if you retook it or not. There is no replacement of bad grades.

The AADSAS site states that GPA calculations include:

Courses that have been repeated. Both grades from repeated courses are used in calculating the ADEA AADSAS GPA, even if thisis not the policy of your college/university.
Courses that you failed, regardless of whether they have been repeated.

http://www.adea.org/dental_education_pathways/aadsas/Applicants/GeneralInstructions/Pages/Coursework2.aspx

So unfortunately all the grades factor in. Don't be discouraged. Many schools do whole file reviews and thus will see an upward trend/improvement. Good luck 🙂

you do not average any grades.... type everything from ur trascripts onto AADSAS.

so for example: if you took math 101 in summer 2012, and summer 2013. You type both of them along with each grade earned.

type EVERYTHING on your college (and community college) transcripts AS-IS...
