GPA Calc-why such difference??

i was wondering why there is such a difference in the gpa calculation between canadian and american schools...

in the states, a 4.0 is 93-100 or 90-100

but in Canada, a 4.0 is 84-100 or 87-100

anyone know why they do this?? Does this mean that Canadians have a better chance of getting a higher GPA than americans?

thanks for the reply salsa. so a 4.0 is 90-100? Do u know what the range is for A- and B's? Is this same for all canadian schools?

I don't think it's that uniform. At the school where I did my postbacc, in some classes a 95+ was a 4.0, and in others it was 90+ (93-94 was an A- in the former, 85-90 was an A- in the latter).
