hey guys i was just wondering why amcas doesnt calculate your gpa by including courses you took elsewhere. i was just wondering if there is a way for them to still calculate it. cause i def need those to be calculted. let me know.peace

amcas requires that every college course you've ever taken be included in their gpa calculation. you have to list every post-secondary institution you've attended, and the courses taken at the institution. amcas automatically combines all the individual gpa's from each institution to give you a final amcas gpa. read the instructions VERY carefully.

I'm having a similar problem..I can't get A-'s and B+'s to count in the AMCAS gpa...any ideas?

What do you put if you have repeated a class?

I mean, do you put the class twice, or do you put the average, or do you just put the highest grade?

popeye - thanks man, was worried for a sec

Can someone answer my question, it would be much appreciated

Regards

List the class twice. AMCAS will include EVERY grade you earned in your GPA calculation. For example if you took a four unit class twice and earned an F the first time and an A upon repeating the class, the effect of your calculated GPA would be (0+16)/8 GPA points per unit = 2 for eight units. So effectively it means that you got a C in this class for 8 units. Speaking from experience the one class I repeated severely affected my overall and BCMP GPA, and there was nothing I could do about it.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, it's much appreciated.

wait a minute, so if you have any A-'s they wont be in there until they receive it?
