Hey all,
I had a quick question about GPA calculations for AMCAS. I tried finding this in the forums but couldn't.
My undergrad college I went to was quarter (or term) based (4 quarters in the whole academic year, no not including summer, that was a separate 5th quarter). My transcript states each course as being 3 credit hours, an A grade in a class lists it as 12 Quality Points, a B as 9, so on so forth. We were required to register for 3 courses every quarter (or term)...So essentially:
2 qtrs in a semester, 3 courses each qtr x 2 = 6 courses over entire semester.
12 courses in entire year.
Now...I am planning on taking some courses at a UC system...it lists the course on the registrar as 4 units...The UC system also works in quarters, but they have only 3 quarters throughout the academic year (Fall, Winter, Spring), and then a summer one. I think people in UCSD take anywhere from 2-4 courses at a time (wow that seems easier to me since I'll be taking 1-2 courses part time while working a full time job hah! but correct me if i'm wrong).. See link for sample curricula:

How would I combine the two GPAs?? I'm trying to do this now to project how many courses I need to get As in etc. I tried looking at the excel sheet provided on this forum...How do I distinguish between the two diff types of quarter systems?
Also..as a side note..I posted a what are my chances earlier but failed to mention that I am also Indian (east asia)..but obviously I am an American Citizen..pretty much raised here (moved here when I was a yr old). Does this make it harder for me to get in? I noticed this in a few forums, where people mentioned they were Asian, asked for chances and were told "Oh you need higher stats since your asian." Is this true? How is that even fair...!?!?

Help much appreciated. Thank you.
