hello,

My overall undergrad GPA is a 3.2958 with a total of 122 credits. I am trying to figure out if I got all A's in the 8 prereq's I am taking what my GPA would figure out to be? Each class is 4 credits each so I am looking at finishing up a total of 32 credits in the next 5 semesters.

Any one have some insight on how to figure this out?

Plus, I have only two classes to figure in for my science GPA currently and they are bio 1- got a B and Bio 2- got a C. Should I retake theses classes or is it nor that big of a deal in the overall scheme of things.

I bet you can figure this out on your own. 🙂 But here's my solution, if you don't feel like going through the motions yourself (kinda boring).

Your overall GPA is equal to sum(class grade * class credits) / (total credits). So multiply your GPA by your total credits. Now add to that number the value (4.0 * 32). Finally, divide the result by (122 + 32).

As for bio, you'll have to look at your future science GPA and figure out whether you need to retake it. Depending on how long it was since you took bio, and depending on your grades this time around, I would think that you'd be alright without a retake. Just be warned that the MCAT has a lot of specific first-year bio material in it, and I know I couldn't have prepared for it without taking the class very recently.

I also found it helpful to put all of my transcript(s) into an Excel spreadsheet, then run the calculations whenever I needed to update them. Then again, AMCAS may use slightly different values when determining your GPA, so think of this as a pretty good estimate of what adcoms will see when you apply.
