I understand that all my courses will be looked at but I didn't begin to take any med school prereqs or upper level courses until I transferred my AA to a university.

When i transferred my GPA was reset bc I came in with an associate degree. Will med schools just look at the gpa I obtain from that point on or also at my community college classes?

They see it all and calculate it on their own, regardless of how your institution sees it.

All college classes ever taken. And to my knowledge A=4.0.

Different as in if your new institution gives you a clean slate because you're entering with an AA, that is not relevant to AMCAS.

Yeah i figured. I'm in for a scary ride bc my community college gpa was a 2.7 from 8 years ago. I'm now taking prereqs at a university and have a 4.0 but I don't want my past to prevent me from getting in

Same. I got academic renewal but that doesn't count for Med school. I'm hoping the gap in time and upward trend combat that. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Thanks Ochem. I guess my next question would be if i need to apply to lower level med schools bc of that or if I should let my sGPA, mcat and EC's do the talking and aim both high and low?

I do know that you're going to have to buy MSAR and figure out where to apply by matching your stats with each school's stats. I'm not sure that it works differently for us non trad with old low GPAs. It would be nice if we should ignore it and apply based on our new GPAs, but I've never read anything saying that admissions committee ignore those grades.
