I need to take/retake another chemistry class (I did one semester of gen chem and got a C). There's a gen chem course at a local university I can take, although it's split into two semesters (but the professor may let me skip the first and take the second later).
I have two questions:
1) if I'm "retaking" the gen chem class that I got a C in, does it make sense for me to do both Chem 1 and 2 at this university? I want to show that I've learned the material this time around, but would I still accomplish that by only doing Chem 2? It's just that taking both would be more tuition and I'm a little short on $ right now-- though I think I could manage if I had to.
2) Does it make a difference that my current cGPA is 3.47, and my sGPA is 3.19? I have a feeling it does, but if so, then should I take both gen chems to bring that up? Or should I take a more "advanced" course in the sciences plus Chem 2, since I heard that med schools prefer the former option over retakes? Or just take Chem 2 only?
Any advice or input would be so appreciated. Thank you!
