GPA Correction Notification:

AMCAS recently determined your GPA calculation was incorrect, owing to
missing quality points that should have been associated with specific
course data. We immediately notified your designated medical schools of
this problem and took corrective action.

We corrected your AMCAS quality point data, recalculated and confirmed
your correct GPA, re-verified your application and told your designated
medical schools that we would expedite your corrected application
information to them early this week. To view your corrected GPA
information, logon to your application, select the "Print Application"
button on the left side of your screen and page through to the
coursework and GPA section of your application print view.

On Monday, we will FedEx your reverified application to your designated
schools (your schools should receive the FedEx on Tuesday, August 28th).
In addition, we stamped your corrected application as "re-verified" and
asked your schools to shred the earlier version.

What caused the problem with AMCAS quality points ? Quality points are
fundamental to the calculation of GPAs, and their absence skews the
calculation results. This anomaly is caused by applicants and AMCAS
staff attempting to access the same data during or following the
verification process. In other words, when multiple, conflicting
modifications are made by applicants and AMCAS verifiers, quality points
do not update properly.

To prevent a reoccurence, our developers made changes in the web
application so that applicants in verification status, or, who have been
processed, may no longer enter three sections of the application that
affect verification and the GPA calculation. The three sections that
verified or processed applicants may no longer enter on-line are schools
attended, coursework, and transcripts. In order to view your coursework,
GPA and schools attended, you must now select the " print application "
option. If you need to make post-submission changes to these three
sections, you should submit your request by e-mail to [email protected],
AMCAS verification staff will review your request, make a judgement
about the change and enter it in the application if necessary and
appropriate. In addition, we will notify you of the AMCAS action taken
on your change request via e-mail.

Please let us know if you have any additional concerns

Thank you for contacting us.

well, did your GPA go up or down? 50% chance that you have nothing to complain about! 😀

If you got no changes on your app then perhaps you got a reprieve from AMCAS. I hope this is a glitch, and that you'll hear something in a few days. If not, and I were you, I would fear that AMCAS is screwing me behind the scenes. I have learned that any AMCAS glitch always brings bad news. 🙄

No changes at all. 😕

I tend to get really scared when AMCAS tells me they are going to change my GPA. Especially since I'm sure it's write cause it matches my undergrad record. Just when you though it was safe...

ehem

I think u meant

I am sure it is "right" not write...

hope u dont make those kind of "write" mistakes in ur secondaries 😉 hehe

That letter says something about quality points...what are they. I thought your GPA was straight up calculated using the normal plus and minus system? Does that mean that advanced courses are higher quality and count higher in the gpa? Im confused 😱 😕

AMCAS doesn't always calculate your GPA the way your school does. Your AMCAS GPA is almost always different than your transcript GPA, especially if you have a repeat, or even some lab classes that are calculated differently.

Thenks whatcatmicalat, I'm glade yoo are their to catch my spilling irras. 😀

LOL funny steve...

I was going through ur last statment...I was like, whoops another spelling error...and then wait another, another...oh dang, the graemlin face, u trickster 😉

Here's a quick definition of quality points. You already know about them, but probably call them something else.

Clas_____Hours_____Grade_____Q. Pts.
BIO 100__3_________A_________12
BIO 101__1_________B_________3

TOTAL___4___________________15

Quality Points / Total Hours = GPA

15/4 = 3.75

Hope that clears this up. 🙂

(I had to use underscore to space things out right)
