Hey I couldn't find out anywhere on this forum, so am going to ask myself.

Does the GPA during the summer of applying, affect your GPA at all? Can I take classes and update my transcript through AMCAS? Just wondering if it would benefit to take some classes in the summer.

Thanks!

If you don't want to be very late, you want to have the application in early in the summer, so the primary application will not include your summer grades. What you can do is send an update letter to any schools you applied to, telling them you completed X, Y, Z classes and what your grades in those classes were. That may be given some weight when considering your application, or it may not, depending on the school. Any advantage waiting until the end of the summer would give to your GPA, however, would be more than wiped out by waiting until those transcripts are released to even BEGIN the verification process of the AMCAS application, which takes weeks in the prime season. Much better to apply as-is and send an update letter, or if you really need the GPA boost wait to apply until next cycle. :luck:
