Don't worry, 3.5 is still pretty good. I am sure the problems are not from your DAT and GPAs. Just make up with other hours and experiences instead. This is my second time reapplying. I applied to only two schools last cycle. My stats were 20 AA 19 TS DAT, 3.7 GPA and 3.6 sGPA. I was waitlisted at both schools.
This year my GPA fell to a 3.5 and my sGPA probs even lower... how screwed am i? Will the two schools I'm reapplying to (my top schools) along with the other schools look at my /rapidly/ falling GPA trend and disregard me right away?
I'm so worried that I won't be able to get in even after applying twice. Please let me know your experiences and advice. The main reason my GPA fell so rapidly is because of a C+ in Microbio. Should I retake?
Why in the world did you only apply to two schools? No stats gaurantees admissions to any scho and hence the reason people apply to many.

Just to be clear, this is your 2nd time applying? Bc 2nd time reapplying implies that this is your 3rd attempt. Anyways, the two schools you applied to aren't going to be excited that your GPA is worse. Not to be harsh, but they didn't accept you the 1st time, why would they accept you now with worse stats? I would definitely expand your application to at least 8-10 schools and consider retaking the DAT. Not that your DAT is bad, but its the only number on your app that you can significantly improve in a short period of time.
I did the shotgun approach. It was effective, but man did it cost me a pretty penny. Maybe OP has limited funds? Either way, hopefully OP applies to 6 schools this time around.
And to OP, don't freak out. 3.5 is pretty much the average GPA. Plus, you're taking more advance courses (I hope) that resulted in a lower GPA, but it shows you'll have a stronger background. Make sure to take this extra year to do extra curricular activities so you can tell your interviewers how you've still managed to improve yourself despite the grades falling a few points.
Trust me I understand the limited funds, I had to borrow money to add schools but the point is that the price you pay by applying to more is infinently less than not getting in the first time (considering a year of practice lost). I never understood why people spend months of studying and hundreds in study material to apply to do little schools. You're right about the limited funds... and other circumstances. This year I'll be applying to more schools. I'm just hoping the original two won't immediately reject me based on the fact that I have worse GPA than the previous year bc those schools will remain my top two choices. I added research, shadowing, and tons more volunteering trying to make my stats better.
