GPA forecasting tool---is there interest

I have seen so many posts where people assume what it will take to move GPA of X to Y and more often than not their assumptions are wrong when you do the math.

I have a lot of professional experience in developing forecasting tools and was thinking of writing an Excel-based tool to allow you to start with a certain # of hours & GPA and see scenarios of how to get to where you want to be.

Only question is: is there interest from the community for this? I'm thinking it is more applicable to non-trads though many trads that started off badly might use it as well I suspect.

If at least a couple of people would use it I'll probably write it just for fun....

I'm beyond the stage where I would need such a thing, but it sounds immensely useful. 👍

If you want to make a teensy one page website that's publicly available, that would be a "tool" people might use. Doing a standalone exe or whatnot would not get used, imho.

Being able to share an URL to a simple tool: good. Having to find the attachment | it doesn't work on my <system> | hey that's a virus! | I can't understand how to use it: bad.

I use an Excel sheet to do this math, when people make outrageous claims, and it's 9 cells total. "Forecasting" is way too big a word for this. I don't share my xls, for the reasons above. If you make a tool that's more useful, I'll use it and evangelize it.

Good point, I'll stick it on my rarely updated website as an embedded tool.

As for forecasting, I'm thinking more than just the quickie tool we probably both use to check posts here.

Guess I'll play around and see what I can do 🙂

This is Lokhtar's GPA calculator that I modified. (His original had a few issues.) You can easily use it to forecast what grades you need to achieve X GPA.

I was just seeing a lot of I have a 2.X GPA and I'll be at 3.7 by the time I graduate posts so obviously people don't understand what impact classes have.

I think I'm going to play with a small webpage that has tools for various GPA type calculations...mostly to fill lonely evenings in my apartment 🙁

I have checked over my own calculations more times than I remember so I personally have no interest in it because I know mine are good, but some would use it.
