Hey everyone! I'm planning on applying next cycle and I just have 2 questions about general importance of specific factors:

1. So just HOW important is GPA? I've heard some places have a sliding scale where having a high DAT gives you some lee-way?

I have like a 3.50 so I'm not super worried but some schools have much higher averages so it was just a general question since I did well on the DAT.

2. I know most schools prefer 2 rec letters from science professors but for one prof I was planning on asking I ended up with a B in her class, so is it still worth getting a rec from her? She's the only other prof I can think of besides a math professor but I'm not sure if that would count as science haha.

Thanks!

You can definitely still ask her for one. If she will write a good letter with the B then gobfor it. GPA matters. When getting interviews the dat seems to get more interviews but when people have crazy good GPA's you would be surprised how important it is and how many interviews they get.

you're all set buddy, great DAT score and gpa. 2 letter of recs from science prof, 1 from non science, and 1 from a dentist.

Wouldn't worry about recs too much. I had good stats and the most incredibly generic app/interview/recs and got into everywhere I applied

Admissions committees also look closely at the university attended. A 3.5 from Berkley is great, a 3.5 from a no name/lame competition school is weak.
